RPG Codex's picks for best CRPGs of 2002
T he way it sticks with it's Chinese lore theme made this one special to me. If you've ever wanted a Kung Fu movie CRPG, Prince of Qin is about as close as it gets.

Overall, I think this game is really worth every penny you spend on it because not only is it fun, it has many elements of play that are lacking in other games currently in the market.

After trying out the single-player demo briefly, I was impressed by its convenient interface design, which uses customisable hotkeys and mouse buttons to control most functions and makes it easy to play.

Our look at Object Software's action RPG, which takes us on an adventure steeped in the history of ancient China.

If you're looking for a unique, action-packed role-playing game, then this would certainly be a PC game to consider.

This game, Fu Su is on a path of revenge against his enemies while coming to grips with the injustices of his society.

The artificial intelligence programmed into Prince of Qin is satisfactory. Injured wolves, for instance, will leap away from you in an attempt to better position themselves for an attack, and city guards will do more than just lie down and die.

Prince of Qin's single-player mode is fairly open-ended and is actually quite challenging, in part because you may have a difficult time keeping track of all the different characters and your various quests, but also because the combat can be very tough.

One of the best features of Prince of Qin is the ability to make items and add gems to existing items.

That Prince of Qin is based on real life is sort of a nice touch. You get to visit real places and sometimes you get to run into real people.

The game is based on the player's decisions which lead to different endings which adds to the replay value.

Asian history, specifically Chinese history, is full of drama and war: all the stuff that good RPGs are made of. From the attack of the Mongols, to the frequent shifts in power from dynasty to dynasty, China has a heck of a story to tell. Prince of Qin, a new action-RPG from Object, wishes to expose the West to at least part of that epic story.

Variations range from blood pumping fight sequences to the melodious sounds reminiscent of Chinese folk music.

Chinese tradition is rich enough to give medieval RPGs a run for their money, to be sure. I look forward to Object's next foray into action RPGs. In the meantime, Prince of Qin does a fairly good job of getting their foot in the door.

I really have to admire Object Software: Dragon Throne introduced new aspects into the real-time strategy genre that were overlooked and Prince of Qin really tries to bring a fantastic tale of China's history into a modern medium and in such a manner that keeps it imaginative and entertaining.
