Common crossbow

This ordinary crossbow is simply developed by
adding wooden cross-slots for arrows on a bow. So compared with
bows, this crossbow can shoot with more power and accuracy.
However, it takes longer to place arrows on this crossbow and
it is too heavy to be carried about. |

Hunting crossbow

 |
This crossbow primarily was used by hunters in
the countryside. It is simple and full of power. Later some
rebel troops also used it as a common weapon. |

Chu crossbow
|
 |
This crossbow first appeared in the Chu State
during the late Spring and Autumn Period, and it became popular
in the Warring States period. The crossbow used by military
troops was more powerful than the hunting crossbow because of
the use of stouter and tougher materials. |

Mechanical crossbow
|
 |
This crossbow is installed with an arrow box
which can contain up to 18 arrows. After a shot is made, an
arrow will drop onto the arm automatically and by virtue of
this mechanized re-load arrows can be shot in quick succession. |

Minister Qu Yuan's crossbow

The famous politician Qu Yuan once served the
Chu State in the Warring States period. Later he was banished
to the south of the Yangtze River because he always spoke too
frankly to the Emperor. In the end, he threw himself into the
river and drowned. After King Xiang of Chu's succession, he
named this crossbow after Qu Yuan in memory of the contribution
of Qu Yuan to the Chu State. |

Meteor crossbrow

A strong crossbow which can shoot three arrows
at one time. It shoots at long range, and as quick as a flashing
meteor, so it is named "Meteor Crossbow". |

The First Emperor crossbrow
|
 |
After he unified China, the First Emperor ordered
several huge crossbows to be made as a symbol of the military
might of the Qin Empire. The body was made of Longshan wood
and the bowstring was made of tiger tendon. The metaphor was
"Dragon prancing, tiger bounding and ever-lasting." |
