Mountain-cutting hatchet
A kind of hatchet in the Warring States period,
which was used while people were walking in the mountain. It
had a long handle so that it could easily poke aside the bramble.
Later it was improved again by adding a spearhead so that the
user could not only chop but also thrust
Heaven-penalty hatchet
According to legend, this hatchet originally
appeared in the Yellow Emperor's period in ancient times. According
to the ancient criminal law, the Yellow Emperor had five sorts
of punishment which were thrusting with the sword, cutting with
the falchion, boring with the chisel, chopping with the hatchet
and lashing with the whip. The fourth punishment was carried
out with this hatchet. It was made under the Yellow Emperor's
supervision, so the craftsmanship is quite exquisite.
