Short Sword
|
Bashu willow-leaf-alike short sword
|
|
This short sword is an example of the paraphernalia
that is popular in Bashu area. It bears the unmistakable style
of a bronze weapon manufactured in the Eastern Zhou Period because
of the influence of the foundry techniques in the central area.
Some daggers are wide and flat while others are narrow and thick,
just like the shapes of the willow leaf, and blood grooves are
carved on both sides of the ridge. The whole unit, which is
engraved with patterns of totemic birds and beasts, appears
simple and vigorous. |
